Here's what's happening in my musical world. All shows with Robert Earl Keen unless otherwise noted.

Welcome to my not so new site and homepage for shameless self promotion and internet commerce. Now that I have navigated the treacherous waters of web design I stand poised to come hurtling, boldly, into the 21st Century! Stay tuned for upcoming news about shows and other surprises.

We're coming to the end of 2011 and it was an exciting year for me. The release of my first solo project was—for the most part—a success. While it didn't break into the Billboard Top 100 it was favorably reviewed by most who heard it. I really enjoyed all of the feedback I received from everyone. Here is a link to what some people are saying about Before The Dawn.

I also attempted a fund-raising project called Steel For Peace to help raise money and awareness for Greg Mortenson's (of Three Cups of Tea fame) organization CAI, and their work in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The timing was less than perfect as Mr. Mortenson ran into some PR problems as well as some health issues. I believe they have straightened out these problems and I continue to support their efforts. For more info go to the Steel For Peace page and check it out.

As of late I have been enjoying giving lessons to some students here in Austin as well as steel guitarists around the globe via Skype. If you are interested in a lesson please go to the contact page and we can set something up. It is a truly exciting time with the technology we possess and I look forward to connecting with more people around the world. This past year I participated in a recording session from Nigeria and gave a lesson to a student in Barcelona. Crazy!

I am planning on putting up some tablature in the coming year for people who are interested. I will try to cover some topics that don't get a lot of coverage in most steel guitar instruction. Navigate to the tablature section from the menu. Let me know if there is anything you are interested in seeing up there.

That's all for now! I wish everyone a happy holiday season and best wishes for the new year.
